Parks Commission Meeting Minutes
November 8, 1999
Page 2
I if the Commission elected to vary the colors, as has been discussed in the past, there would be a
charge.
The Commission discussed variations of color and possible options. Council Liaison George
Marks suggested that paint chips with preferred colors be obtained to assist in the decision. Mr.
Wong offered to bring some samples for review.
Hallada agreed that paint chip samples would be helpful. Mr. Wong stated that he would ask
Flannigan Sales to provide samples of paint colors used for the play equipment so that the arches
could possibly coincide with those colors.

to Jindra requested that, between now and the next meeting, the Commissioners take a look at the
new piece of play equipment at Water Tower Park. Everything is in place except for one more
climber, but Jindra would like the Commissioners to specifically pay attention to the colors of the
equipment to help in determining the appropriate colors for the arches.
Louiselle requested clarification from Mr. Wong about the additional charge imposed by the con -
tractor to repaint the arches a different color. Mr. Wong clarified that currently the arches are
different variations of green, and the contractor would need to sandblast the arches, prime them,
and then paint the arches in-house. Wagner offered that the contractor would have to sandblast
the arches anyway to eliminate the rust that has accumulated. Mr. Wong reiterated that he is
relaying what the contractor has told him -- that if there is not a color change, there would not be
an additional charge.
Jindra inquired if the installation of a fence along the service road would be completed this fall.
Public Works Director Jay Hartman stated that he had met with the vendor last week, but had not
received a price quote on the project yet. Mr. Wong affirmed that project should be able to be
completed this fall, depending on the weather.
Jindra mentioned that the project could wait until spring for completion if the Commission still
has unresolved issues about the project. Mr. Hartman stated that he would have a price quote
soon and then the Commission would have more information to make a decision.
Jindra inquired about installing a sign in the parking lot to enforce slower speeds. Mr. Hartman
stated that he would ensure that the sign was installed.
In reviewing the punch list items, Mr. Wong reiterated that many of the items remaining on the
list would be accomplished in the spring. Wagner questioned Mr. Wong about the punch list
items that were marked for completion in 1999, and expressed frustration that many of the items
appeared to be unfinished. Mr. Wong reviewed the list and pointed out certain items that had
been completed in 1999 and discussed some of the items remaining.
