Parks Commission Meeting Minutes
November 8, 1999
Page 4
Jindra inquired if bleachers had been ordered, and it was determined that by spring, a second set
of bleachers would be installed. Mr. Hartman stated that Todd Hubmer, WSB & Associates, is
putting together a punch list regarding Silver Point Park.
Jindra mentioned that residents had previously informed her of rough spots around the walking
trail. Jindra took a look at the trail and noticed the spots as well. Mr. Hartman stated that he has
been made aware of the rough spots, too.
Jindra confirmed with Mr. Hartman that the basketball boards would be painted. She stated that
the project could wait until spring, but should be completed prior to the Park's opening.
Hallada inquired about responsibility for watering the property. Mr. Hartman responded that cur-
io rently it is the contractor's responsibility.
Jindra stated that she noticed standing water in the small t -ball field after a recent rain and ex -
pressed concern about drainage issues. Mr. Hartman stated that the contractor has discussed
various options to alleviate any drainage problems.
Jindra stated that she remembered talking about installing a gate by the southeast side. She could
perceive where a gate would be beneficial; however, she could also envision potential problems.
Wolff suggested that someone poll the residents in that area in the event the Commission does
consider installing a gate.
Jindra felt that the Commission was still at the same point with regard to shelters and there had
not been any updates. At last discussion, the budget would be reviewed but the Commission was
not ready to make any decisions.
Mr. Hartman mentioned that he had researched two portable hockey systems and found them to
be both expensive and not resilient. Wolff pointed out that both Central Park and Emerald Park
currently offer hockey.
Jindra stated that she remembered telephones being considered for the shelters. Mr. Hartman of -
fered that all the park houses have telephones.
Wolff inquired about a possible date for the Park's opening. Jindra offered that Mr. Hubmer
would need to provide some possible dates, but that the opening would probably take place in the
spring.
Jindra suggested that the Commission consider the street reconstruction at 29th Avenue as a fac-
for in determining a possible date for the Park's opening. Wagner suggested an opening date in
April 2000, which would be before the t -ball season began and prior to the street reconstruction
project as well.
VI.
