Parks Commission Meeting Minutes
October 7, 2002
Page 5
2 Ms. Dunn replied she would talk to the school about not using the park area.
3
4 Chair Jindra asked if tl ey-should-be-making sometime of a motion at this point about not driving
5 vehicles down there. Commissioner Jensen replied they should ask Ms. Dunn to address this
6 with the school.
8 Mr. Wong asked if they wanted to plow that in the winter so the kids could walk on it to go to
9 school, but realizing that it could wreck the trail and that would need to be fixed next year.
10
11 Mr. Anderson stated the road was on school property and did they want to tell the school what
12 they should do. Chair Jindra replied that was a good point.
13
14 Mr. Kost presented where they were today on the project with the hard and soft costs, the
15 contingencies put in, and the approved additional hard costs. He noted the total approved budget
16 was,$2.7 million. There was an additional $82,000 in additions and changes and the deductions
17 were $56,000 for lighting and topsoil. The pending change orders were $36,000.
18
19 Commissioner Gebhardt asked for clarification on F8, regarding the ball fields. She stated this
20 was the area that had the glass and debris. She stated the $17,800 was being redone, but not at
2. their cost. Mr. Kost replied that was correct.
22
23 Mr. Hartman noted they were $11,000 over budget, and they still owed $15,000 to $20,000 to
24 SEH. This was taking into consideration that they were paying the full amount of the wet deck
25 but if they did not pay the full amount, then they would be under budget.
26
27 Chair Jindra asked if they had been happy with the contractor. Mr. Kost replied everything had
28 gone well, except for barricading the site and putting signs up. He stated they needed to make
29 sure that all of the fences were up and the catch bases were covered and cleaned and there was
30 security in place prior to winter.
31
32 Chair Jindra noted the large things were fine, but there were smaller items that would still need to
t3 be completed. Mr. Kost replied that was correct.
;4
15 Mr. Wong noted in 120 days, 50 plus days were rain days.
6
7 Mr. Hartman noted Thompson Homes has had the worse site conditions this year.
8
9 Vice Chair Koehntop inquired about erosion control. Mr. Wong replied the areas of erosion
0 would be seeded and an erosion blanket put on.
Vice Chair Koehntop asked why was that not included originally. Mr. Wong replied that had not
been included originally because there was grass initially, but with all of the rain, it now needed
erosion control.
