Mr. Kost agreed.
Commissioner Zurbey suggested that they eliminate additions and include them in the base bid.
Several Commissioners disagreed with Commissioner Zurbey.
Chair Jindra stated that she was not happy to choose Scheme A, and suggested they go with one
of the other options.
Mr. Wong reminded the Commission that it would be possible that bids could come in higher.
Commissioner Zurbey stated that if that were to happen, he would be very surprised and
disappointed.
Ms. Olivier stated that her office has worked very extensively on this project, and she did not
believe there would be any surprises in the figures.
Chair Jindra suggested that they digest the Central Park Pavilion figures, and focus on the Park
figures, which need to be decided on sooner.
Chair Jindra asked Mr. Anderson for his input on the options discussed. Mr. Anderson stated
that they should not go with Scheme A, as it is not enough. He warned that they could not have
a building that focuses solely on restrooms. He added that he did not think the square footage
could be reduced any further.
Ms. Olivier suggested that the Commission make some type of decision soon, to prevent another
person being placed on the job, since it is not due until January.
Mr. Hartman highlighted a few of the things that were being compromised in the plans today,
that were very important a few meetings ago, and asked if the Commission was comfortable with
them.
Chair Jindra stated that the subject be tabled for now.
They concluded that the Central Park Pavilion subcommittee would meet a time or two before
the next scheduled Parks Commission meeting.
The Commission refocused on the Engineer's Cost Estimate for Central Park.
Chair Jindra led the Commission through the proposed changes, and they concluded that all of
the changes are satisfactory.
Commissioner Zurbey asked if Mr. Kost and Mr. Wong were fairly confident with the numbers
they are proposing. Mr. Kost responded that they felt very good about the changes, and expected
more bids than they received last time. He also indicated that they would have a mandatory pre-
bid this time.
