MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: <br />January 12, 2005 <br />TO: <br />Mike Morrison, City Manager <br />FROM: <br />Jay Hartman, Director of Public Works <br />ITEM: <br />Future Park Enhancements <br />Mike, <br />The Park Commission met on December 20, 2004, in work session format to discuss <br />future "Issues" and "Park Needs" for discussion at the upcoming 2005 Goal Setting <br />Session. Some of the items discussed are maintenance issues and some are capital <br />improvement expenditures. The items for discussion are as follows: <br />Central Park <br />• Add stairway from upper parking lot with stairs ending at pavilion area. <br />• Add parking lot lighting throughout Central Park parking lot. <br />• Pave Central Park hockey rink for roller blading in summer months. <br />• Add additional backstop netting on baseball diamond backstops. <br />• Add additional soccer/baseball field lighting. <br />• Mark pathways with distance markers and provide signage for trails and exercise <br />purposes. <br />• Plow trails in winter to provide year-round use. <br />• Donation policy — (give staff to research). <br />Emerald Park <br />• The Commission would like to see a feasibility report completed for the total <br />overhaul or reconstruction of Emerald Park in 2005. The proposed planning and <br />completion would be within five years (2009). <br />The Commission agreed to start meeting on a quarterly basis starting in March of <br />2005. <br />
