Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br />November 10, 2003 <br />Page 4 <br />1 Chair Jindra stated that Commissioner Jenson has been working to address the sod issues and asked him <br />2 to provide the Commission with an update. <br />3 <br />4 Commissioner Jenson reviewed the project with the Commission stating that one of parents took the <br />5 time to photograph the progress and provided the Commission with a presentation and overview of the <br />6 project. He reviewed the installed bullpens on first and third baseline, the tree plantings in the center <br />7 field area and the equipment used to construct the fields. Mr. Halstengaard clarified the purpose of the <br />8 trees around the batter field stating that provides a more natural buffer and gives a better aesthetic <br />9 appearance than plywood. <br />10 <br />11 Mr. Halstengaard stated that they installed clay along the home plate area noting that the Agra line tends <br />12 to wear away. He explained that by installing clay it would stay put. <br />13 <br />14 Commissioner Jenson reviewed the modifications made to the first baseline and the sod placement with <br />15 the Commission. He stated that approximately twenty-five people assisted with the construction of the <br />16 field. <br />17 <br />18 Chair Jindra thanked everyone for his or her time and assistance. She stated that the time spent helping <br />19 to build their Parks adds to the ownership and pride Citizens have in their Community. <br />20 <br />Chair Jindra asked Mr. Halstengaard if he was consulting with the Varsity Coach regarding the High <br />22 School projects. Mr. Halstengaard stated that they are working with the High School on the projects and <br />23 reviewed with the Commission. <br />24 <br />25 Chair Jindra asked if everything has been decided regarding the dugouts. Public Works Director <br />26 Hartman stated that all decisions have been made regarding the dugouts and that they would be <br />27 completed this fall. <br />28 <br />29 Chair Jindra asked Mr. Koechlien if he feels everything is under control. She stated that they would <br />30 really like to have the Park open for the winter season. Mr. Koechlien stated that the hockey rink is the <br />31 biggest issue adding that he would check into the options and update the Commission. <br />32 <br />33 Mr. Halstengaard referenced the drainage near batting cages and asked if this would be addressed. Mr. <br />34 Koechlien stated that this is an issue they would like to discuss with the asphalt company. He explained <br />35 that they would like to create a small asphalt curve to divert the water and reviewed with the <br />36 Commission. He stated that he feels more comfortable with this resolution now that the grass in the area <br />37 is more established. <br />38 <br />39 C. Silver Point Park - Update <br />40 <br />41 Chair Jindra stated that the Commission took a short tour of the park shelter at Silver Point Park and <br />47 reviewed with the Commission. She explained that the shelter is still in the construction phase adding <br />that it would be completed in approximately two to three weeks. She stated that the building itself is not <br />44 the style they had originally discussed adding that the shelter would be very functional for all season <br />45 sports. She noted that overall, the shelter is looking great and the Commission is pleased with their <br />
