Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br />March 8, 2004 <br />Page 5 <br />1 has begun and that they have asked the Community to contact City Hall with any suggestions. <br />2 <br />3 Commissioners Gebhardt, Knutson and Hallada (tentative), Chair Jindra and Vice Chair Koehntop <br />4 volunteered to be involved in the Subcommittee planning. <br />Chair Jindra suggested that the group meet outside their normal Parks Commission meeting to pull <br />together ideas that could be discussed at the joint City Council/Parks Commission meeting in April. <br />9 Vice Chair Koehntop asked if there would be any problems with having the event in June. Mr. <br />10 Koechlien expressed concerns that the Parks might not be ready noting that it could be in conflict with <br />11 the installation of the hockey boards. He suggested that the Commission consider the event for mid to <br />12 late June. <br />13 <br />14 V. REPORTS. <br />15 <br />16 A. Communitv Services. <br />17 <br />18 None. <br />19 <br />20 B. School Board. <br />of <br />School Board Representative Denise Dunn stated that she would like to thank Troy Urdahl for all of the <br />23 work he did in securing the astro turf from Metrodome. She noted two tasks forces, the Transportation <br />24 Task Forces would be meeting this month in addition the Blueprints Food Service Task Force. She <br />25 encouraged anyone interested to contact the District Office with questions. <br />26 <br />27 Chair Jindra asked if they had an update on the dugouts. Ms. Dunn stated that she has not received any <br />28 new information. She stated that she would check on the progress and update the Commission. <br />29 <br />30 C. Sports Boosters. <br />31 <br />32 Mr. Zurbey stated that they would be meeting again this Wednesday, March 10th, to discuss the <br />33 scheduling. He stated that they have also applied to host a Twins Baseball Clinic to be held on the <br />34 morning of Village Fest and reviewed with the Commission. He stated that it is not confirmed at this <br />35 time noting that Village Fest would be a good time to hold the Clinic, as it would bring people out to the <br />36 festival. He stated that they are working out the final items for spring sports including soccer and <br />37 baseball. He stated that the charitable gambling is presently on hold. He explained that from a licensing <br />38 standpoint they would have to reapply for a license. He further explained that they have to reapply <br />39 because they cannot be inactive for a certain period of time. He noted that they had to raise their fees <br />40 this year because the charitable gambling did not provide the funding it normally does. He stated that <br />41 the fees are still very reasonable in comparison to other areas. <br />42 <br />^' VI. OTHER BUSINESS. <br />i <br />45 None. <br />
