Planning Commission Regular Meeting Minutes <br />April 16, 2019 <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />Vice Chair Westrick asked if this would be setting a precedent with all the issues with water 1 <br />drainage. Mrs. Wernimont stated they have a sump pump which has never turned on. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Motion by Commissioner Socha, seconded by Commissioner Payne, to approve the request for a 4 <br />5.3-foot variance for the front yard setback at 2609 Pahl Avenue. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Motion carried 4-0. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Motion by Commissioner Socha, seconded by Commissioner Rude, to deny a request for an 9 <br />exemption for a 1.6% variance for the impervious coverage at 2609 Pahl Avenue. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Motion carried 4-0. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Commissioner Socha stated a work session was held previously on another deck and that was 14 <br />denied. She does not support any paved surface encroaching within 5 feet of the setback. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Motion by Commissioner Socha, to deny any paved area request that would fall within the 5-foot 17 <br />side yard setback. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Commissioner Rude stated he feels a 3-foot sidewalk should be allowed but the motion was 20 <br />worded such that nothing within the 5-foot setback would be allowed. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Motion failed for lack of a second. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Commissioner Socha asked if Staff had a recommendation for language for a motion. She 25 <br />recommended the following motion. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Motion by Commissioner Westrick, to approve a 1.1-foot variance from the side yard setback, 28 <br />with the removal of the jet outs at 2609 Pahl Avenue. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Motion failed for lack of a second. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Commissioner Socha stated she would be in favor of a 3-foot wide sidewalk. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Commissioner Socha stated a work session was held previously on another deck and that was 35 <br />denied. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Motion by Commissioner Rude, seconded by Commissioner Socha, to deny the variance request 38 <br />for the side yard setback citing staff’s findings on the matter. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Motion carried 4-0. 41 <br /> 42 <br />IV. STAFF REPORTS. 43 <br /> 44 <br />Mr. Grittman introduced his associate Mr. Ryan Saltis who has assisted on some of the St. 45 <br />Anthony matters. 46
