In 2019 the entire pavilion will 1 <br />be stained. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Chair Jordahl Redlin stated she and Commissioner Bellinger attended City Council Meetings 4 <br />in March and April regarding the Ordinance change process. In April she spoke to the Council 5 <br />about Arbor Day plans. On April 13, she attended an Environmental Conference. She made 6 <br />some contacts with other Cities. On May 13, a work session was held and on May 20 she 7 <br />attended the annual city tour. Flooding in Central Park was discussed. 8 <br /> 9 <br />VIII. OTHER BUSINESS. 10 <br /> 11 <br />A. Recognition of Aye Keita for participation in Students in Leadership for the 2018-12 <br />2019 school year. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Mr. Hartman recognized Aye Keita for serving on the Parks Commission for the last year. The 15 <br />Commission appreciates her participation and presented her with a certificate and coffee mug. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Ms. Keita thanked the Commission for allowing her this opportunity and she plans to attend 18 <br />college in the fall. 19 <br /> 20 <br />IX. COMMUNITY FORUM. 21 <br /> 22 <br />A. Central Park Dog Park Request. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Ms. Barbara Johnson requested to use the Central Park hockey rink as a dog park. She was 25 <br />bite by a dog in Central Park a few years. Currently there are a lot of off leash dogs in Central 26 <br />Park. She has had instances of dogs attacking her as they are not on leashes in Central Park. 27 <br />She noted there is a Village People group on Facebook. She created a poll and the majority of 28 <br />responders were in favor of making the hockey rink at Central Park an off-leash dog park. She 29 <br />showed photographs of various dog parks in other cities. She noted part of the Comprehensive 30 <br />Plan shows a dog park. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Commissioner Rengstorf asked what the negative comments were regarding the dog park and 33 <br />Ms. Johnson stated concerns about dog poop, too small, and wanted to use it as a soccer field. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Commissioner Bellinger stated she is in full favor of a dog park in St. Anthony. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Ms. Palmer thinks that portion of the park is school property and Mr. Hartman stated it is City 38 <br />property. Ms. Palmer is not against the idea but had not thought about it before. She does not 39 <br />know if that will solve unleashed dogs in Central Park. 40 <br /> 41 <br />Ms. Johnson asked if she should call the police. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Chair Jordahl Redlin stated in 2014 a dog park was discussed. The City of Minneapolis was 44 <br />going away from dog parks. She asked how close the dog parks were to homes and Ms. 45 <br />Johnson stated not very close.
