City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />September 24, 2019 <br />Page 2 <br />1 A. Resolution 19-067; a Resolution Approving Wine/Beer License for Hickory Hog Grill & <br />2 Smokehouse located at 3900 Silver Lake Road. <br />3 <br />4 City Manager Casey stated the Council is asked to consider approval of a combination <br />5 Wine/Strong Beer License for Hickory Hog located at 3900 Silver Lake Road. This is a new <br />6 business opening where Smashburger use to be located. He stated staff has completed <br />7 background checks and recommends approval. <br />8 <br />9 Mr. Lars Karlson, owner of Hickory Hog, explained in 2015 he started a food truck in the area <br />10 with great success and has recently had the opportunity to open a restaurant. <br />11 <br />12 Motion by Councilmember Jenson, seconded by Councilmember Gray, to approve Resolution <br />13 19-067; a Resolution Approving Wine/Beer License for Hickory Hog Grill & Smokehouse <br />14 located at 3900 Silver Lake Road. <br />15 <br />16 Motion carried 5-0. <br />17 <br />18 B. Fire Prevention Presentation. <br />19 <br />20 Fire Chief Sitarz introduced Lieutenant Mattie Jaros to the Council who used a PowerPoint to <br />21 provide a presentation related to fire prevention. <br />22 <br />23 Mayor Faust indicated he was glad the Fire Department was concerned about children's anxiety <br />24 when doing fire drills. He noted apartments are required by code to have fire alarms, so the Fire <br />25 Department is putting efforts into homes without fire alarms. <br />26 <br />27 Councilmember Jenson asked regarding the file for life, what has the response been in the past <br />28 because this has been provided for several years, or at least something similar. Lieutenant Jaros <br />29 explained the residents love it. <br />30 <br />31 Councilmember Stille put a plug in for the open house and Village big rigs. This is a community <br />32 event he wanted to promote for new families in the community. He thanked the Fire Department <br />33 for doing that. <br />34 <br />35 Mayor Faust thanked the Fire Department and their involvement in the community. <br />36 <br />37 Informational; no action required. <br />38 <br />39 C. Resolution 19-068; a Resolution Authorizing Mayor and City Manager to Approve <br />40 Toward Zero Deaths Grant. <br />41 <br />42 City Manager Casey stated this is a request to authorize the approval of the Toward Zero Deaths <br />43 Grant. He noted this grant was originally administered by Ramsey County but is now being <br />44 administered by the City of St. Paul. He introduced Police Lieutenant Diegnau. <br />45 <br />46 Police Lieutenant Diegnau explained the Towards Zero Deaths Grant program. <br />
