1
C ity Manager Casey reviewed the quarterly goals and accomplishments with the Council. 2
3
Councilmember Stille asked if City Manager Casey mentioned the potential for working with the 4
School District on the football field. City Manager Casey indicated that is one of the areas where 5
City Staff is helping to submit a grant to Hennepin County in regard to looking at artificial turf at 6
the athletic facilities that the City co-works with along side the School District. He noted this is 7
in the preliminary stages and getting information put together on what the request would be and 8
what is needed for the project. 9
10
Mayor Faust thought it was important to realize that when the Council comes up with the seventy 11
items in January and that was one of the items that the Council knew was going to be a multi-12
year function to get to and to find the right partners and collaboratives and to get it. The City 13
Council also realizes that if they are not partnering with the School District, the City only have 14
1,506 acres and the City cannot build up on ballfields, so the City has to make them useable 15
more of the time. The City will probably be working some different groups and the Council will 16
be supportive of them and he thought it was a way to get things done. He commended City Staff 17
for the hard work on all of the projects and it allows them to get the community behind some of 18
these supports and pay for those functions as they come about. 19
20
VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. 21
22
City Manager Casey reported that there was a Fire Department open house on Saturday and 23
attendance was good despite the weather. He noted the newsletter has been sent out. October 24
19th there will be the next Coffee with the Council at 9:00 a.m. at Autumn Woods. 25
26
Councilmember Jenson stated he attended the Candidate Forum on October 3rd and the Fire 27
Department open house. He noted the weather was somewhat difficult but there was a steady 28
flow of people. He could tell the staff put a lot of time and effort into that event. 29
30
Councilmember Stille stated on October 3rd he met with Representative Omar’s Chief of Staff 31
and also other representatives. He thought it was important to recognize that office and St. 32
Anthony has always had good relationships with the representatives. 33
34
Councilmember Gray stated he attended the Fire Department open house on October 5th and was 35
amazed at how many people were there. He thought the kids really enjoyed the different things 36
that were available, and he thought it was a successful event. He thanked City staff for the hard 37
work. 38
39
Mayor Faust stated he attended all of the events mentioned. He also acknowledged the Public 40
Works for keeping the streets clean in all types of weather. 41
42
VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. 43
44
Mayor Faust invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on items that 45
are not on the regular agenda. 46
13
