2019 Strategic Plan • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

Long Term Vision/Priorities | 14
LONG TERM VISION/PRIORITIES
The City of St. Anthony’s long-standing annual goal setting exercise is an important culture
building opportunity for the team. This session is a rare time where elected officials, city staff
(including assistants), consultant staff, and commission chairs can dedicate time to build
relationships in the quest for establishing a shared vision for St. Anthony.
Throughout the session city officials receive additional insights from representatives that are able
to attend from the League of Minnesota Cities, the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust,
Metro Cities, and another metro area municipality.
This varied set of experiences, expertise and viewpoints provides the group with both internal and
external perspectives on ideas and issues, and allows for exchanging information and ideas in a
venue designed and intended for building a team around a shared long-term vision
Facilitator Bruce Miles provided a resource titled; “Influencing Innovation and Ideas at the
Organizational Level” to help the team begin to work on 2019 goals:
“What I have found
over the years is the most
important thing is for a
team to come together
over a compelling vision,
a comprehensive strategy
for achieving that vision
and then a relentless
implementation plan.”
― Alan Mulally
