Parks and Environmental Commission Regular Meeting Minutes <br />December 2, 2019 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />E. 2019 Water Conservation Poster Contest Winners 1 <br /> 2 <br />Chair Jordahl Redlin reviewed the details of the poster contest and recognized the 2019 Water 3 <br />Conservation Poster Contest Winners. The winners were recognized at the City Council 4 <br />Meeting. 5 <br /> 6 <br />4th Place Addie J. 7 <br />3rd Place Neva F. and Lucy J. 8 <br />2nd Place Sasha W. and Elise O. 9 <br />1st Place Sena A. 10 <br /> 11 <br />F. Citizens for Sustainability Updates 12 <br /> 13 <br />Ms. Lona Doolan presented a power point update on the Citizens for Sustainability. She 14 <br />reviewed 2019 Highlights, 2020 Priorities and Measuring Progress. She also reviewed the 15 <br />2040 Comp Plan Sustainability Goals. Mr. Dan Kunitzwas also present and summarized goal 16 <br />setting. He reviewed setting SMART goals. Part of the GreenStep measurements were 17 <br />reviewed. Mr. Kunitz and Ms. Doolan recommending working with the Commission at work 18 <br />sessions. Mr. Hartman suggested a presentation be done at the March Commission meeting 19 <br />when the new commissioners are present. 20 <br /> 21 <br />VII. COMMISSION REPORTS 22 <br /> 23 <br />Ms. Palmer announced the Truth and Taxation session on December 3 along with retirement 24 <br />of the current school board members. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Chair Jordahl stated she attended the Hennepin County Tree Stewards course on October 12, 27 <br />2019. She also participated in the Tree Planting event two weeks later. On October 16, she 28 <br />attended a meeting with Citizens for Sustainability and City Staff to look at the Comp Plan 29 <br />Goals. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Commissioner Bellinger noted she enjoyed working on the new garden. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Mr. Hartman stated he spoke with Al Bates from the Sports Boosters regarding safety 34 <br />measures for fields. The City hosted a winter maintenance class including ice control 35 <br />products. On October 26, 117 trees were planted along with the County along the corridor. 36 <br />Attendants for the ice rinks are being hired. 37 <br /> 38 <br />VIII. OTHER BUSINESS 39 <br /> 40 <br />A. Recognition of Erin Jordahl Redlin, Sarah Ksiazek and Marnie Overman for 41 <br /> their years of service. 42 <br /> 43 <br /> 44
