2019 Annual Report • Public Works Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

6

III. Engineering
The City of St. Anthony utilizes WSB & Associates, Inc. for engineering and consulting services
on many of the city’s construction and improvement projects. Engineering activities in a typical
year include: street and utility reconstruction; storm water quality and flood improvements;
chip sealing of roadways; and other infrastructure related improvements. In 2019 the city
completed a number of these infrastructure projects including:

FLOOD REDUCTION IMPROVEMENTS
The City has identified several areas that have the need for increased levels of flood protection.
The City has completed the improvements for many of these locations, yet there still remain a
few projects that are being addressed as financing and adjacent infrastructure is upgraded. In
the summer of 2019, the City along with Ramsey County, the Rice Creek Watershed District
(RCWD), and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources began construction of the Silver
Lake Road Flood Reduction Improvements Project and was completed in the fall of 2019.

Silver Lake Road Flood Reduction Improvements
Flood improvements on Silver Lake Road consist
of the installation of new storm sewer and catch
basins along the east side of Silver Lake Road
from approximately 250 feet south of Silver Lane
to approximately 600 feet north of Silver Lane to
address flooding within the roadway. Larger rain
events cause the low area of Silver Lake Road to
flood causing concern for motor vehicle safety and
causing property damage to several homes
located east of Silver Lake Road. This project is a
cooperative project that is being funded by the City
of St. Anthony, Ramsey County, Rice Creek Watershed District and the Minnesota Department
of Natural Resources.
