2019 Annual Report • Police Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

11 | Page

May
Officers responded to a local cemetery on a report of a drug overdose. Officers located the male
unresponsive and not breathing. Officers administered Narcan and assisted with life saving
measures until this subject began breathing and regained consciousness. He was transported to
a local hospital.
June
Officers received a call of a bike theft report. The elderly victim (Korean
War vet) advised that the bicycle was a unique red 3 wheeled bike with a
basket. Officers began an investigation and completed a report. Two days
later, these same officers received a medical emergency call at a nearby
residence and located the bicycle in the living room of the home. A male
was questioned and arrested for theft. Officers purchased a new lock and a
protective cover and returned the bike to a very grateful owner.
July
Officers received a radio call of an apartment building fire alarm. Patrol officers quickly located
an active fire on the third floor. Officers began evacuating the building and assisted SAFD with
a rescue of a male trapped on a third floor balcony. While conducting interviews with
residents, officers were able to determine that the fire was suspicious and developed a possible
suspect motive and description. Resources were contacted and an arson investigation began
immediately. In the days following the fire, patrol officers continued their investigation and
were able to obtain additional information on the suspect. The dedicated work the patrol staff
subsequently led to the arrest of a suspect for 1st Degree Arson.
August
Patrol officers had been advised by concerned citizens that a suspicious vehicle had been
frequenting residential neighborhoods. Officers researched the reported vehicle and
determined that the likely occupant was a known fugitive. For several days, officers continued
their search for this vehicle until a passing patrol officer finally located this vehicle parked with
the fugitive behind the wheel. This male was apprehended without incident and booked for
felony warrants and probable cause possession of methamphetamine.
