2019 Annual Report • Police Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br /> <br /> <br />34 | Page <br /> <br /> <br />September: It was back-to-school time… <br />Squads attended Elmwood Church’s “Back <br />to School Block Party” where Officers <br />handed out sticker badges and bracelets to <br />the kids and gave tours of the squad cars. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />St. Anthony PD hosted the return of our Citizens <br />Academy. Activities included presentations on <br />SWAT, use of force, DWI enforcement, as well as <br />K-9 and Taser demonstrations. <br /> <br /> <br />October: St. Anthony PD partnered with Cub Foods to host our annual Coffee With A Cop <br />event where members of the public could meet with Officers to discuss issues of concern, learn <br />about police work, or simply share stories or talk about family life. <br />Chief Mangseth and Captain Spiess were invited by members of Nativity Church to Tuesday <br />Morning Conversations on Books related to faith. The book of topic is, America’s Original Sin: <br />Racism, White Privilege and the Bridge to a New America, by Jim Wallis. They discussed one of <br />the chapters that is entitled "From Warriors to Guardians" and what the St. Anthony PD <br />philosophy is on policing in our community.
