The following
policies and procedures are being implemented to assess staff’ health status prior to entering the workplace and
for staff to report when they are sick or experiencing symptoms.
• Employees are directed to stay home if they are sick or experiencing symptoms while at home and
notify their supervisor.
• If symptoms appear during the workday, an employee should immediately notify their supervisor that
they must leave and determine who they have had close contact with in the past 48 hours.
• If an employee appears to have COVID-19 symptoms at the workplace, supervisors have the authority to
require the employee leave the workplace.
• Steps will be taken to assist the ill employee if they are too ill to leave the workplace on their own,
including isolating the employee until they are able to leave the facility.
The City of St. Anthony has existing leave policies that support staff staying at home when they are sick, when
household members are sick, or when required by a health care provider to isolate or quarantine themselves or
a member of their household. Details of those policies can be found in the Employee Resource Guide and
applicable union contracts. Accommodations for staff with underlying medical conditions or who have
household members with underlying health conditions will be made in accordance with the Families First
Coronavirus Response Act.
The City of St. Anthony has also implemented a policy for informing staff if they have been exposed to a person
with COVID-19 at their workplace and requiring them to quarantine for the required amount of time.
Supervisors will notify affected employees if they have been exposed to COVID-19. A discussion will take place
to determine who they have had recent contact with in the past 48 hours. If distancing and other guidelines may
not have been followed, then the exposed employees will be required to stay home per MDH and CDC
guidelines.
44
