Parks and Environmental Commission Regular Meeting Minutes <br />September 14, 2020 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />mulch. Ms. Doolan stated right now there are no specific plans for future plantings. Pollinator 1 <br />plantings have been done. Ms. Doolan suggested a buffer be planted. 2 <br /> 3 <br />VII. COMMISSION REPORTS. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Mr. Hartman provided updates on the church applying for the Hennepin County grant. The 6 <br />City received a grant for $10,000 to do a tree inventory within the City. The focus will be on 7 <br />the boulevard trees. An assessment has been done on the three parts and noted there is a 8 <br />deficiency in seating under shade structures. Bids are being received for the skate park behind 9 <br />City Hall for a new ride surface. Conversations were held regarding pickle ball. Portable 10 <br />pickle ball nets were purchased. There has been a request for more pickle ball nets in Central 11 <br />Park. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Commissioner Guest asked if there has been a study to see if the parks are meeting the needs 14 <br />of all the residents. Mr. Hartman stated there has not been a study done. Requests are 15 <br />considered as they come into the City. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Chair Bellinger stated the Commission enjoyed the park tours. 18 <br /> 19 <br />VIII. OTHER BUSINESS. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Ms. Doolan stated they still want to do some sort of solar demonstration at Central Park. Mark 22 <br />Casey suggested there were three potential sites. Another vendor will need to be secured. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Commissioner Guest stated the garbage recycling hauler is coming up next winter and he 25 <br />would like to see curbside organic pickup. Mr. Hartman suggested Mr. Yunker be contacted. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Commissioner Reed noted during the park tours there were no containers for recycling. Mr. 28 <br />Hartman suggested Mr. Yunker be contacted. 29 <br /> 30 <br />IX. COMMUNITY FORUM – NONE. 31 <br /> 32 <br />X.
