2020 Annual Report • Fire Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

27 | Page

FIRE DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS OF TRAINING 2020
• Total active staff at year end 30 (4 Rookies Hired in Nov 2020)
• Total staff training hours:
2020 – 4038 documented = 135 hours per person (including 2020 hires)
2019 – 2146 documented = 79 hours per person (including 2019 hires)
2018 – 3018 documented = 107 hours per person
2017 – 2456 documented = 81 hours per person (including 2016 hires)
2016 – 2173 documented = 75 hours per person
A significant jump in hours during 2020 came from 4 different sources:
• All full-time employees participated in an online fire investigation certificate with 25
hours of course training, equaling 175 hours.
• All officers participated in a 50-hour online course and 16-hour scenario based incident
command training, equaling 594 hours.
• We had four rookies complete their Firefighter 1 and 2 certification, as well as EMT basic
certification, which totals approximately 330 hours each.
• The Minnesota Board of Firefighter Training and Education (MBFTE) provided access to
a program through Target Solutions. This is an online training platform available to our
members. Aside from our scheduled drills and training, our members had an additional
373 hours of training that would not have been available.
A major focus was to continue to complement training from previous years. We continually
work to maintain skills and add to them. This includes 12 hours of EMT training for each of our
members who are EMTs.
Several of our drills were adjusted due to Covid-19. This training was conducted in an online
meeting format. This did result in lower drill and hands-on training hours.
