City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />May 11, 2021 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Mayor Stille encouraged the residents to sign up for the push notifications. Mill and overlay is 1 <br />generally done after a road is reconstructed for 20 years. This would give the road 40 years at 2 <br />which time another mill and overlay can be done to extend the road life to 60 years before a 3 <br />reconstruction is needed. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Motion by Councilmember Webster, seconded by Councilmember Jenson, to adopt Resolution 6 <br />21-049; a Resolution Ordering Preparation of Feasibility Report for 2022 Street and Utility 7 <br />Improvements. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Motion carried 5-0. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Mayor Stille asked for a 2021 Project Update from City Engineer Messner. Meetings are being 12 <br />held with the contractor for a pre-construction meeting later this week. The construction should 13 <br />begin in early June, based on previous discussions with the contractor. This project will progress 14 <br />fairly quickly and should be completed by the end of July 2021. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Mayor Stille asked when the final lift would be put on the segment of road for the 2020 Project. 17 <br />Mr. Messner stated the contractor was there last week and replaced any of the curb and gutter 18 <br />and any new concrete that cracked over the winter. Looking at milling Silver Lane next week. 19 <br />Within the next week or two the entire project should be completed. Mayor Stille noted grass in 20 <br />many places looked really good. Mr. Messner stated if there are any bare spots the contractor 21 <br />will reseed. The turf will be continually monitored and repaired as necessary. There is a two-22 <br />year warranty on these projects. 23 <br /> 24 <br />VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. 25 <br /> 26 <br />City Manager Yunker announced Jeremy Gumke will be the City’s new Public Works Director. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Councilmember Walker had nothing to report. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Councilmember Randle had nothing to report. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Councilmember Webster stated she participated in City Clean-Up along with the Mayor and 33 <br />other Councilmembers. VillageFest is currently considering some options for the 2021 34 <br />celebration. Chad Gillard is the Villager of the Year for 2021. Saturday, May 15 at 9am she 35 <br />invited residents to join Councilmember Jenson and herself for Coffee with the Council. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Councilmember Jenson stated he attended the City Clean-Up Day. He also participated in the 38 <br />Community Center COVID Vaccine Clinic last week as a greeter. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Mayor Stille stated on May 10, he attended the Regional Council of Mayor with 17 Mayors 41 <br />attending. The speaker was from Alliance on Alliances. Earlier today, he attended the MWMO 42 <br />Board Meeting. 43 <br /> 44 <br />VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. 45 <br /> 46 <br />3
