Resolution 21-085 — Resolution Awarding a Bid for the Water Tower No. 1 <br />Rehabilitation Project. <br />City Engineer Messner reviewed bids were received on Friday November 12, 2021 and were <br />opened and read aloud. Three bids were received. <br />accuracy. A summary of the bids received is: <br />Classic Protective Coatings, Inc. <br />Osseo Construction Co, LLC <br />TMI Coatings, Inc. <br />The bids were checked for mathematical <br />$449,625.00 <br />$559,650.00 <br />$946,500.00 <br />The low bid was submitted by Classic Protective Coatings, Inc., Menomonie, WI in the amount <br />of $449,625.00. The Engineer's estimate was $504,350.00. Staff recommends the City Council <br />consider the bids and award a contract in the amount of $449,625.00 to Classic Protective <br />Coatings, Inc. based on the results of the bids received. <br />35 Councilmember Jenson asked the City Engineer on the lowest bid if the materials will be <br />36 compromised and Mr. Messner stated they have worked with Classic Protective Coatings in the <br />37 past and they are a reputable firm. A Yd party is on site during the project to ensure the work is <br />38 being done to specifications. <br />39 <br />40 Mayor Stille asked if there is any seasonality and when would the project start. Mr. Messner <br />41 stated the contractor will start the project in early Spring 2022. Mayor Stille asked if the bids <br />42 were based on the fact the City was locking in a contractor to get on their work schedules. Mr. <br />43 Messner stated that is true and the contractors are given leeway to begin construction based on <br />44 their own schedules. Mr. Messner stated there are four different design renderings that are being <br />45 reviewed by Staff and then will be brought to Council. The residents will choose the selected <br />46 design. <br />
