3 <br /> <br />Vision & IniƟaƟves by Category <br />This plan is divided into four category secƟons. Under each category is an overarching vision for that <br />category to help the City achieve its overall vision. <br /> <br />We will focus our efforts on four main categories to build our iniƟaƟves: <br /> Water <br /> Waste <br /> Energy <br /> Transporta Ɵon <br /> <br />Within each category, we have selected 2‐3 iniƟaƟves to advance in this plan. This plan is a living and <br />breathing document and is focused on the items we want to pursue in the next 1‐5 years. <br /> <br />Category: Water <br /> Overarching Vision for Water <br />o Placeholder for vision statements resulƟng from stakeholder feedback. Examples include <br />a vision that incorporates stakeholder feedback such as the following: <br /> Water is a valuable resource to the City and the City is commiƩed to ensuring <br />that the water will remain clean and abundant into the future. <br /> The City supports efforts that will lead to clean water and the development of <br />sustainable water use pracƟces that will protect the water resources within and <br />adjacent to the community. <br /> Improve land and soil health; protect and conserve water. <br /> To provide exemplary water use efficiency and enhanced water quality through <br />efforts that ensure enough clean water for the future community’s health and <br />recreaƟon. <br /> Water quality is of high importance to the City. <br /> To increase resilience of the community by efficiently using water, enhancing <br />water quality to ensure enough clean water for the future community’s health <br />and recreaƟon and reduce risks. <br /> ExisƟng CondiƟons <br />o Current Programs, Policies and Goals <br /> Water Quality: SAV is located within two watershed districts. These districts <br />regulate development impacts on water resources. <br /> Water ConservaƟon: The City currently has a lawn and garden watering <br />restricƟon between April 1 and November 1 between the Ɵmes of 11 am and 6 <br />pm on an every other day schedule. <br /> Shoreline protecƟon: The City will encourage homeowners with properƟes <br />adjacent to water resources to establish a vegetaƟve buffer strip at the <br />shoreline. This strip should consist of legumes or other perennial grasses to limit <br />erosion and nutrient transport across the buffer strip. (2017 Storm Water <br />Management Plan)
