Charts showing the Annual Street Program Detailed <br />30 Costs was provided for Council review. The Option 2 is cheaper and saves $1,248,000 over <br />31 Option 1. <br />32 <br />33 Councilmember Webster referred to Option 2 and the years the roads were last reconstructed, she <br />34 asked about the roads that were reconstructed in the early 2000's. Mr. Messner stated he worked <br />35 with Ms. Rueckert. Mr. Messner stated streets that were reconstructed in the early 2000's are <br />36 nearing 20 years. Preventative maintenance was done every 5 years. The City has moved away <br />37 from chip seal which was the standard practice in the State of Minnesota for 40-50 years. There <br />38 are now better technologies that do not deteriorate the pavement. Asphalt rejuvenation is done as <br />39 it keeps the top layer of asphalt flexible. <br />40 <br />41 Mayor Stille noted there are two options and asked if Council needs to select one option. Mr. <br />42 Messner stated that would be preferred but if Council wishes it can be included in the feasibility <br />43 study for added cost. <br />44 <br />
