City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />March 26, 2024 <br />Page 5 <br />1 <br />2 Police Chief Jeff Spiess presented a Power Point of the 2023 Annual Report and reviewed it in <br />3 detail. The presentation included a photograph of all members of the Police Department, <br />4 Department Summary, Crime Statistics, Part I and II Crimes by Year, Investigation Review, <br />5 Calls for Service, Patrol Review, Education Summary, Cadet Program (New in 2023), <br />6 Recruitment Team (New in 2023), Social Media, Community Engagement, Strategic Plan, Body <br />7 Worn Camera Program, Work Plan Accomplishments, and What’s on Deck. The complete report <br />8 can be found on the City’s website. <br />9 <br />10 Councilmember Stephens asked if the statistics are for St. Anthony only or is Lauderdale <br />11 included. Chief Spiess stated only for St. Anthony. <br />12 <br />13 Councilmember Jenson asked if statistics are compiled for Lauderdale and Chief Spiess stated an <br />14 annual report is given to Lauderdale Council. Councilmember Jenson referred to calls for service <br />15 and asked if 2024 calls are consistent? Chief Spiess stated it is relatively consistent with no <br />16 significant change. Councilmember Jenson stated he is impressed with the report and <br />17 commended the department on the action steps. Chief Spiess gave credit to the rest of the <br />18 department. <br />19 <br />20 Councilmember Doolan stated she met with Police Department leadership and stated she is very <br />21 impressed with the training program. She asked about the drop in calls and removing covid is it a <br />22 1.5% drop. Chief Spiess stated the graph shows a larger drop than it is statistically. <br />23 Councilmember Doolan thanked the Chief and department for all they do. <br />24 <br />25 Mayor Webster referred to 158 mental health calls for service. We know mental health is <br />26 impacting adults and children. She referred to the training hours and only 50% of hours were <br />27 required and 441 hours were elective. Former Chief Manseth positioned the department to be <br />28 incredibly good. <br />29 <br />B.30 2024 Street Improvement Project. <br />31 <br />32 WSB Project Manager Katie Koscielak reviewed a Power Point summarizing the 2024 Street <br />33 Improvement Project.
