Mike Mayne May 1st,2024 <br />2705 Silver Lane Northeast <br />Saint Anthony,MN 55421 <br />mjmayne@gmail.com <br />Saint Anthony Village City Council <br />3301 Silver Lake Road <br />Saint Anthony,MN 55418 <br />Dear councilmembers, <br />The Silver Lake Residents Association is requesting that the city contribute to eradicating <br />the Eurasian Milfoil that has taken over the lake.Some history is below,and I have also <br />attached some supplemental documentation to support our request. <br />History: <br />Last year,in cooperation with Three Rivers Park District,Rice Creek Watershed, <br />Minnesota Department of Natural Resources,and the City of Columbia Heights,Lake <br />Restoration treated 15%of Silver Lake for Eurasian Water Milfoil.The treatment was paid <br />for by the Silver Lake Residents Association,along with a $500 grant from the DNR and a <br />$1000 contribution from the city of Columbia Heights.The treatment was not sufficient to <br />remove the milfoil and it worsened throughout the year. <br />Lake Restoration completed a full lake treatment in April 2024 and has provided us with a <br />bill for that service.We've been in communication with the RCWD and the MN DNR,who <br />have cited some full-lake treatment success stories like Clear Lake in Forest Lake,and <br />provided the attached variance,approving the treatment. <br />SLRA has coordinated with those organizations to meet the requirements of the variance. <br />Three Rivers complete the delineation mapping of the lake.Lake Restoration has <br />completed the treatment this year. <br />Request: <br />The full lake treatment costs approximately $12,000.We have received $2,000 from the <br />city of Columbia Heights,in addition to their contribution to last year's treatment and the <br />new aerator and electrical infrastructure they installed last year. <br />We would like to request that the city of St.Anthony contribute $2,000 to this year's <br />treatment.SLRA will still foot the majority of the bill,but we would like some help from <br />the city to ensure the lake is enjoyable for all SAV residents for years to come. <br />Thank you for your consideration, <br />Mike Mayne <br />Silver Lake Residents Association
