City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />May 28, 2024 <br />Page 2 <br />The Mayor and Council thanked Mr. Scheerer and Dr. Simpson for their presentation. <br />B. Promotion of Captain Mattie Jaros to Assistant Fire Chief <br />5 Fire Chief Izzy Diaz and City Manager Yunker reviewed some background information on the <br />6 process. Fire Chief Diaz stated it was not an easy process but the decision made is the right <br />7 decision. 14 applicants were interviewed and Mattie was deemed the best one for the position. <br />8 <br />9 Assistant Chief Jaros recited the Oath of Office. Photographs were taken. <br />10 <br />11 Mayor Webster and Councilmembers congratulated Mattie Jaros on her promotion and thanked <br />12 all who attended. <br />13 <br />14 III. CONSENT AGENDA. <br />15 <br />16 A. Approve May 14, 2024 Council meeting minutes <br />17 B. Licenses and permits. <br />18 C. Claims. <br />19 <br />20 Motion by Councilmember Doolan, seconded by Councilmember Stephens, to approve the <br />21 Consent Agenda items. <br />22 <br />23 Motion carried 5-0. <br />24 <br />25 IV. PUBLIC HEARING - NONE. <br />26 <br />27 V. REPORTS FROM COMMISSION AND STAFF - NONE. <br />28 <br />29 VI. GENERAL BUSINESS OF COUNCIL. <br />30 <br />31 A. Resolution 24-037 — Approving Construction of the Assistant Fire Chief Office Space <br />32 <br />33 Fire Chief Izzy Diaz reviewed the Fire Department staff presented the new Deputy Chief <br />34 position that identified future needs of the department which included the buildout of an <br />35 additional office space. In order to accommodate the additional office space, we relocated the <br />36 workout equipment to a room that stored fire fighting gear, and that gear was relocated into <br />37 different areas within the bay. <br />38 <br />39 Bids were received from three different contractors that will complete the work needed for this <br />40 space. The St. Anthony Fire Department recently added this essential position to the full-time <br />41 staff and the station did not have the workspace needed for this critical position. This office <br />42 allows the Deputy Chief to have a private space to work in all department operations and <br />43 personnel related matters. <br />44 <br />45 The bids received were: <br />46 Total Construction Solutions $31,695.00 <br />
