MEMORANDUM
To:St. Anthony Village City Council
From:Charlie Yunker, City Manager
Date:August 15, 2024 City Council Meeting
Request:One-Year Extension of the Police Services Contract with the City of Lauderdale, MN
BACKGROUND
In January of this year officials from the City of Falcon Heights reached out to the City to determine if the Saint
Anthony Village City Council would be willing to consider renewing a Police Services partnership. Under the
previous three-city partnership, the police services contracts for the two partner cities were identical, and all
parties have indicated the desire to do so again, should be renewed partnership with the City of Falcon Heights
come to fruition.
Staff has kept the City of Lauderdale staff informed of the progress and Lauderdale is asking for a resolution to
extend the existing Police Services Contract for one year, as the current contract expires on December 31, 2024.
This request is being made to assure the Lauderdale community that police services will not be interrupted
notwithstanding the Falcon Heights process that is underway.
Should the renewed partnership come to fruition, contracts will be put in place for all participating communities.
If the renewed partnership does not come to fruition, the extension can be left in place, or a new five-year
contract can be put in place before the end of 2024.
This extension at the request of the City of Lauderdale and in no way is intended to imply a decision has been
made on the Falcon Heights partnership. A final decision on a renewed partnership will take place when a
contract and all operational aspects are determined and finalized.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approval.
ATTACHMENTS:
ď‚·Extension Agreement
ď‚·Resolution 24-052
19
