Organizations have come to Parks Commission in the past to talk about <br />bikeability and walkability. CFS did a survey/project in 2015 with Wilshire park for <br />a resident survey, which good be a useful starting point. <br />Speeding behavior on roads <br />o People drive high speeds on local, neighborhood streets <br />o People driving high speeds prohibit walkability and bikeabilty <br />Short trips can be converted from motor vehicle trips to walking/biking <br />o Reducing number of car trips for short distance – you don’t have to go very <br />far to go to grocery, pharmacy, dinner, etc. Partner with chamber of <br />commerce? Reduce school or commercial trips <br />Intersections of note: <br />o Saint Anthony Blvd & Kenzie Terrace <br />Kenzie terrace crossing from neighborhood to shopping area is bad, <br />also 29th <br />o Silver Lake Road & 29th <br />29th has silver point park – kids 5-7 play there with t-ball (not even <br />the older kids) <br />o Silver Lake Road and 33rd <br />33rd busy and backups with school pickup area in the middle/high <br />school area. <br />o Silver Lake Road and 34th <br />o Silver Lake Road and 36th <br />36th and Silver Lake Road is the alternative to get across if you <br />don’t want to wait at the light, but there’s no crossing at all there or <br />lights <br />Streets to note: <br />o 37th <br />o Silver Lake Road <br />o Kenzie Terrace <br />Connect shopping areas <br />Connect to Silverwood <br />Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on Kenzie <br />o talk about collaboration in trying to coordinate with Hennepin County for <br />east/west county bus route <br />Building out inter-city connectivity to community resources & businesses <br />Sidewalk policy prioritizes state aid-funded roads <br />Opportunity to outline how the city can capitalize on what’s been done already by <br />Hennepin County (such as work that was being done on 37th and 29th). <br />Opportunity to survey residents who bike to work and identify these pain points? <br />There are lots of people who commute by bike in SAV <br />Stinson doesn’t have sidewalks on the SAV side, could we partner with county? <br />9
