ANTHONY <br />2 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br />3 SEPTEMBER 24, 2024 <br />4 <br />I.5 CALL TO ORDER. <br />6 <br />7 Mayor Wendy Webster called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br />8 <br />II.9 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. <br />10 <br />11 Mayor Wendy Webster invited the Council and audience to join her in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />12 <br />III.13 ROLL CALL. <br />14 <br />15 Present: Mayor Webster, Councilmembers Doolan, Elnagdy, Jenson and Randle. <br />16 <br />17 Absent:None. <br />18 <br />19 Also Present:City Manager Charlie Yunker, Assistant City Manager Ashley Morello, Deputy Fire <br />20 Chief Mattie Jaros, City Attorney Jim Lindeman, and City Planner Steve Grittman. <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 CONSIDERATION, DISCUSSION, AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON ALL OF THE <br />24 FOLLOWING ITEMS. <br />25 <br />IV.26 APPROVAL OF SEPTEMBER 24, 2024 CITY COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA. <br />27 <br />28 Motion by Councilmember Randle, seconded by Councilmember Jenson, to approve the City <br />29 Council Meeting Agenda of September 24, 2024. <br />30 <br />31 Motion carried 5-0. <br />32 <br />33 V.PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS. <br />34 <br />A.35 Spirit of St. Anthony Award Presentation. <br />36 <br />37 Mayor Webster reviewed the background of the Spirit of St. Anthony Award. Police Chief <br />38 Spiess, who was the 2023 recipient, presented the 2024 award to Ernie Hicks of the public works <br />39 department. Mayor Webster and Councilmembers offered their congratulations to Ernie along <br />40 with their thanks for his service to St. Anthony. Past recipients of the award were present at the <br />41 meeting. <br />42 <br />B.43 Fire Prevention Presentation. <br />44 <br />45 Deputy Fire Chief Mattie Jaros provided a PowerPoint presentation on Fire Prevention. The <br />46 theme for Fire Prevention Week is “Smoke Alarms – Make Them Work for You”. Three out of <br />47 five fire deaths happen I homes with either no smoke alarm or no working smoke alarm. The risk <br />48 of dying in a home fire is cut in half in homes with working smoke alarms. In 2022, 71 lives <br />49 were lost in fires – the highest number in over 25 years.
