City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />September 24, 2024 <br />Page 2 <br />1 <br />2 Deputy Fire Chief Jaros reviewed Smoke Alarms should be located on every floor of the home, <br />3 outside and inside bedrooms. Need to be replaced every 10 years. Batteries need to be replaced <br />4 annually. Some have 10 year batteries that have no need for changing until the alarm reaches the <br />5 expiration date. Some with hearing difficulty may need added devices such as bed shakers. <br />6 <br />7 A St. Anthony Fire Department Home Safety Survey is free to residents. Typically takes under <br />8 an hour. Will check all of the alarms and replace if needed. Alarm replacement includes alarms <br />9 with 10-year battery. Verify correct placement and also add smoke alarms if needed. Will discuss <br />10 fire and life safety topics with the resident (fall risks, cooking fires, CO alarms, etc.). <br />11 <br />12 The St. Anthony Fire Department Open House will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from <br />13 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Fire Station. Included in the day’s activities will be: <br />14 Tour the fire trucks & station. <br />15 Live burn demo. <br />16 Spray the fire hose. <br />17 Free lunch. <br />18 Outside agency demos. <br />19 Sparky the fire dog appearance. <br />20 Bring your old fire extinguishers for recycling. <br />21 <br />22 Councilmember Doolan thanked Deputy Chief Jaros for her work with the schools.
