<br /> <br />7 <br /> <br />XCEL ENERGY PARTNERS IN ENERGY <br /> Memorandum of Understanding <br /> Implementation Phase <br />o Share the municipal solar projects as demonstrations and educational initiatives <br />to the community. <br /> <br />Electrification <br />• Share educational materials on new and emerging electric appliance alternatives and EV <br />chargers to residents. <br />o Identify funding and utility rebates to electrify appliances like heat pumps, water <br />heaters, clothes dryers, and to upgrade electric box. <br />o Share materials at events, with local businesses, on City website, and <br />communication channels, and include in rental license renewals and permitting <br />processes. <br />o Distribute fridge magnet of new appliance options and programs for replacement <br />to distribute to residents. <br />• Evaluate the condition of existing City equipment and develop a predicted replacement <br />schedule and funding. <br />o Identify electric appliance alternatives and fleet electrification options for <br />departments to incorporate into the purchasing plan and account for changes in <br />equipment cost in financial planning. <br />o Identify grants and utility rebates for alternative outdoor power equipment. <br />o Make connections to other cities that have electrified equipment and vehicles to <br />learn successes and challenges. <br />• Facilitate peer-to-peer learning from residents who have implemented electrification <br />measures to those interested. <br />o Host event for community members to learn about personal experiences <br />transitioning to electric appliances. <br />o Share testimonials via City communication channels to inspire others to <br />transition. <br />• Create targeted campaigns for homes heated with natural gas and electrically heated <br />homes to switch to air source heat pumps (ASHPs). <br />o Use data analyses from Partners in Energy to identify areas of the city to target <br />for a mailing. <br />o Send postcard to residents that have high proportion of electrically heated homes <br />or natural gas heat about the benefits of ASHPs. <br /> <br />Project Management <br />• Participate in coordination and tracking of scheduled check-ins, activities, and events <br />• Provide Xcel Energy an opportunity to review marketing materials to assure accuracy when <br />they incorporate the Xcel Energy logo or reference any of Xcel Energy’s products or <br />services <br />• Share the plan document, supporting work documents, collateral, and implementation <br />results from the Energy Action Plan with the public. The experience, successes, and lessons <br />learned from this community will inform others looking at similar or expanded initiatives <br />• Share progress on upcoming sustainability planning as it relates to activities outlined in the <br />Energy Action Plan
