Policy Framework <br />Saint Anthony Village is a compact community with great <br />potential for walking and biking. As a small community with <br />many neighboring jurisdictions and two active Counties, there <br />are many overlapping plans that are helping to shape walking <br />and biking opportunities in the city. <br />COMMUNITY SNAPSHOT EXISTING CITY PLANS & POLICIES <br />The Active Transportation Action Plan supports and is informed by the <br />following City of Saint Anthony Village plans and policies: <br />•Saint Anthony Village Climate Plan (2023) – As a way to reduce <br />greenhouse gas emissions from driving, this plan supports improving <br />the accessibility and safety of nonmotorized transportation <br />infrastructure. <br />•Saint Anthony Village 2040 Comprehensive Plan (2020) – Public <br />engagement found that residents want more connectivity through <br />bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, and highlighted Silver Lake Road <br />as a main thoroughfare that feels unsafe to cross. <br />•Citywide Speed Limit Reduction (2020) – City Council approved a <br />citywide speed limit reduction from 30 mph to 25 mph on city-owned <br />roadways, to improve pedestrian safety and reduce crash severity. <br />•Wilshire Park Elementary Safe Routes to School Plan (2014) – This <br />plan identifies barriers for students walking and biking to Wilshire Park <br />Elementary School and recommends solutions to make active <br />transportation safer and more accessible.
