2/25/2026
4
INITIATIVE 3: ESTABLISH A REVEGETATION PROGRAM TO
REPLACE LOST TREE COVER
ACTION CURRENT STATUS
Consider establishing a revegetation fund to help
residents pay to have dead trees removed and
replaced with more hardy species.
City Council is scheduled to have a work session on April 28th regarding
principles of how to fund “incentive” type Climate Plan programming.
Outcome is subject to Council discussion and direction.
Use the city's RFP process to negotiate a reduced
rate for homeowners who choose to use a single
vendor for tree removal.
The City has previously done research with WSB on the possibility of a bulk
“discounted group rate” arrangement with a single vendor for tree removals
in the city. Due to the various factors that can impact a tree removal project, it
was determined that cost savings would not be realized and could result in
higher project costs. It is more financially advantageous for a resident to seek
multiple estimates from contractors on their own.
Staff are monitoring for grants and other funding opportunities that can
support homeowners needing assistance with costs related to tree removal
on private property.
QUESTIONS?
