He advised the liquor operation successfully passed all <br />alcohol and tobacco compliance checks performed by the Police Department. He stated the <br />Marketplace store had $3.8 million in sales during 2012 and the Silver Lake Village store had <br />$3.2 million in sales during 2012 with an overall sales increase of2.l % and a net profit increase <br />of Il % to $524,303. He presented the five-year profit history and stated the liquor operations <br />had a 12% increase in sales since 2008 and net profits have increased 30%. He also presented <br />the ten-year profit history showing over 200% increase in net profits in the last ten years. He <br />stated sales for each store were approximately 6,200 sales per week or over 1,000 per day and <br />advised the tum ratio of 6.7 times per year correlates with six promotions per year. He stated <br />inventory value is II % of total sales, labor costs are lO% of total sales, and the liquor operations <br />are ranked 7th in the state in total sales and 6 out of 19 in the metro area in net profits. He stated <br />the web page has been redesigned and thanked Barbara Suciu and Alex Amott for their work on <br />the website. He stated they also created a Facebook page and encouraged residents to visit the <br />website at www.stanthonyvillagewineandspirits.com. <br />Councilmember Gray congratulated Mr. Larson and his staff for an outstanding year. He <br />indicated the net profits help to reduce taxes and a good portion of the profits go toward funding <br />equipment for the public works, fire, and police departments. <br />Councilmember Roth thanked Mr. Larson and his staff for all their efforts. He requested <br />information about wine and beer tastings as well as the breakage or lost product ratios. <br />Liquor Operations Manager Larson stated they held two wine events and one beer event in 20l2. <br />He stated the spring wine event will be held on March l6 and they will be holding two beer <br />events in 2013 on April 20 th and May 4th. He advised they have been successful in keeping the <br />shrinkage low in the stores and the total adjustment was under $2,000 for the year. <br />Mayor Pro Tern Stille stated the control of the sale of alcohol is tantamount and it will be <br />important to continue to meet the goal of actively preventing sale of alcoholic beverages to <br />minors and intoxicated persons. <br />D. Resolution 13-026; a Resolution Approving Installation of a Telecommunications <br />Facility on the City's Water Tank located at 3 \09_33 rd Avenue. Mark Casey, City <br />Manager, presenting. <br />City Manager Casey advised that Verizon desires to install nine antennas on the existing water <br />tower by the high school and the lease provides for payment to the City of $24,000 annually or <br />$2,000 per month which is above the metro average of $1 ,800 per month. He stated the lease <br />also includes a 3% rent escalator, a one-time payment of $5,000, payment of a $6,000 escrow for <br />legal /e ngineering, and a six-month termination notice. He advised the lease also requires <br />completion of an interference study and if interference is found the antennas may not be <br />installed. He stated Verizon will also be responsible for maintenance of the tower if antennas are <br />removed and the antenna and cables must be painted the same color as the water tower. He <br />added the lea se requires a $2,000 deposit to be held in escrow for any damage that may occur.
