She is married 6 to Commissioner Stenglem, and is part of the Environment and Management Committees. She 7 said they distribute the Livable Communities grants. She encouraged the City of St. Anthony to 8 apply for more grants. She noted they have $15 million to give away annually. She noted St. 9 Anthony did apply for the Pollution and Asbestos cleanup grant. She indicated the Local 10 Housing hlcentive Fund should be applied for. The Development Cleanup Grant application 11 deadline is June 30. She said the Mctro Council will hold workshops on April 26 and 28 and 12 encouraged the City to have a Staff member attend. 13 14 Councilmember Wittsack explained she is ori the Environment Committee and therefore works 15 with environmental services, which are sewers. She said there is 256 million gallons of sewage 16 per day, of which St. Anthony contributes only .3% of that. She explained inflow and filtration 17 and noted there is a plan to implement a surcharge on cities that: have not met INI goals by 2007. 18 She explained the sewer water flows to an intercept in Roseville. 19 20 Councilmember Wittsack said the Council is taking a veto soon to authorize $1.5 million for the 21 Camp Silverwood, formerly the Salvation Army Camp. 22 23 Councilmember Wittsack explained that as Metro Transit faced a huge budget shortfall, the. 24 decision wasmade to reduce service, and increase fare. One route in St. Anthony will be 25 eliminated, which is the route that goes from the old Apache Plaza site to Brookdale. 26 27 Councilmember Stille commented that five years ago when members from the Council and from 28 the "Task Force met to plan Silver Lake Village, someone suggested applying for the Livable 29 Communities grant. Ile said that was the,jumpstart to what is built. Ile flanked her for the 30 encouragement. 31 32 Councilmember Thuesen thanked her for her support regarding Camp Silverwood. Ile said it 33 was well documented that the right thing to do was to keep the area green and offer more 34 opportunities for our residents. 35 36 Mayor Faust commented that he appreciated her highlighting the grants. He added that the city 37 needs a type of reliable transportation. Ile expressed concern for the potential new employees in 38 the new businesses. He said that in regard to the route issues, if the choice was to pay more or 39 not have it, people would go for paying more. 40 41 Councilmember Wittsack pointed out that when the living areas at Silver Lake Village are 42 occupied, there will likely be an increase in ridership. She added that as the needs change, Metro 43 Transit will change as well. 44 45 Councilmember Wittsack stated she world leave pamphlets about the public hearings being held 46 across the city in the Chambers.
