At the north entrance, trucks have about 5.5 <br />seconds from the <br />time they see <br />approaching vehicles <br />to clear the <br />intersection, which is <br />less than the <br />recommended 7.5 <br />seconds for trucks. <br />The gap is also <br />below the <br />recommended gap <br />time at the truck exit <br />location. <br />Proposed Conditions <br />Table I <br />Intersection Gap Requirements <br />Placement of tlaslvng waa�uing beacons are recommended in advance (at a nunimurn of 150 feetj <br />of the lire station to warn motorists of the approaching Aire muck. Fire ,fighters should use the <br />system when exiting and entering the site. Wireless units are recommended to be placed in all <br />three trucks to activate the flashers. <br />A typical twit is illustrated in Figure 3. The estimated installation cost for a solar powered <br />flasher is approximately $20,000. A solar powered pedestrian crossing unit is shown in Figure <br />4.
