He said a second <br />fundraiser was recently completed. Iie asked Ms. Andrews to speak about a thrift store in <br />Mounds View. <br />Ms. Andrews stated their thrift store, Penny Pinchers, is located at 2569 W. County Road 10 in <br />the Mounds View Square Mall. It is similar to Unique Thrift Store or Savers, but not yet as <br />profitable. People can bring used items such as clothing, household or furniture, and they will be <br />recycled through the thrift store. The people that shop there arc often people who can benefit <br />from getting a bargain or those looking for a bargain. The store also serves as ajob training site <br />for youth and adults. On September 8, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. there will be a grand reopening, <br />with ribbon cutting ceremonies at 4:30 p.m. The store is restructured and improved. <br />Mayor Faust commented that some of the employees are people that have received services from <br />the agency. Ms. Andrews statedd it is a job training site for those that are struggling in some way. <br />There is the opportunity to become a shift leader, and if successful in that role, one could become <br />a junior administrator and help with PR and marketing. <br />B Consider Resolution -05-062 r_e:,Approyingthe Sitver Lake Road Task Force. <br />Mr. Morrison reviewed the resolution with the Council and indicated that there was a lot of <br />interest for this task force. He noted two individuals were tarred down. The agenda is complete <br />for the first meeting on August 22 at 7:00 p.m. lie said that Staff had a meeting with Hennepin <br />County Staff to discuss issues that needed to be covered by this task force. In the course of the <br />meeting it was discovered that the time has to be shortened to January 23, 2006. He pointed out <br />the meetings will be open to the public. lie further explained that after the task force completes <br />its work there will be continue to be public meetings and communications with the public will <br />continue. Ile concluded that letters from the Mayor will be sent to each task force member the <br />following day. <br />Councilmember Stille asked if members know they have been accepted. Mr. Mornson answered <br />some do; those that have called in are aware. <br />Motion by Councilmember Stille, seconded by Councilmember Gray, to adopt Resolution 05- <br />062, re: Approving the Silver Lake Task Force. . <br />Councilmember Stille pointed out there are 25 members, of which 10 have Silver Lake Road <br />addresses. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. <br />City Manager Mornson reported the following: <br />® At the next meeting, a resolution will be presented asking Council to change the meeting <br />schedule to the first and third Mondays in December, which is the 5`1' and 19"" to match. <br />with Truth and Taxation schedules. <br />® Police Chief Engstrom submitted his resignation and will be here until November 1. The <br />position is being posted internally. <br />K <br />
