Mr. Mornson is keeping up with developments. <br />® Metropolitan Council Representative — Comp Plan is due in 2008 <br />® Hennepin County Health Department Radon Screening — kits will be offered at a reduced <br />cost. <br />® Excellent Staff presentation at National Night Out and Villagefest <br />Councilmember T hucsen asked if there is any concern why our community was selected for the <br />radon screening. Mr. Mornson explained they rotate every year and it happens to be our year. <br />Mayor Faust mentioned that Mr. Mornson commented suburban cities would pay more for the <br />911 dispatch system. Mayor Faust pointed out that certain homes are paying more taxes for all <br />services; not just 911. <br />Councilmember Thuesen reported he enjoyed last week's National Night Out. Hs said he <br />attended five of the six events he was assigned to. Ile congratulated those that helped with <br />VillageFest and said he heard very favorable comments. <br />Councilmember Gray had no report. <br />Councilmember Horst reported he attended a Sister City Board meeting the last weekend in July. <br />A sculptor was chosen for the Minnesota Roel. ".phis project includes several sculptors from <br />around the state and international sculptors as part of the Sister City celebration. The sculpture <br />will be at Salo Park. Ile said he also attended six National Night Out parties, and he thanked <br />them for having him.. <br />Councilmember Stille thanked the committee for VillageFest. Ide noted Staff put in a lot of time <br />.in the previous week. He said he also attended six National Night Out parties. <br />Mayor Faust elaborated on National Night Out. He explained the parties were divided up and <br />the Councilmembers rotated visiting. There were 30 parties that night in the city. He said he <br />saw Captain John Ohl out and about, as well as the Fire Chief. He thanked the staff on how well <br />they do this event, and said it is a collective team effort. <br />VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. <br />Mayor Faust invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on items that <br />are not on the regular agenda. <br />Hearing none, Mayor Faust moved forward with the agenda. <br />45 IX.
