M <br />M mar /e <br />PUI3L_IC. UShOI_,APACHE PARK PROPFRTY.AND FACILITIES <br />S <br />1. Purpose and Need for Policy <br />The purpose of providing parks is for the enjoyment of residents. Parks are designed to provide <br />"traditional" activities such as picnic areas, jogging and walling paths, nature appreciation, etc. <br />From time to time people will desire to reserve a portion of a park for a private event or will <br />desire to use parks for activities that may not be classified as traditional or designed use, yet the <br />activity may not be addressed specifically by City Ordinance. This policy and procedure will <br />provide the mechanics necessary to authorize or prohibit usage that fits unusual circumstances. <br />2. Policy <br />Persons intending to reserve a portion of a park or use parkland for an activity are required to <br />schedule activities through the City with City approved permits as required by City Ordinance or <br />procedures. <br />3. Procedure <br />A. Request for usage shall be in writing in advance in accordance with City procedures. <br />13. Written request will fully describe the activity and provide, the name, address, and phone <br />number of The person responsible for said activity. <br />C. The City will review the request, using the following criteria: <br />1) Safety of participants and other park users <br />2) City liability <br />3) Other scheduled usage of area <br />d) Maintenance requirements of activity <br />5) Need for damage deposit if damage to city property is probable <br />6) Activity effect on traditional or designed use of park <br />7) Signage allowed publicizing the activity in the park <br />D. If the activity is acceptable in a park, the person requesting the usage will receive written <br />authorization (usage permit) and may be required to make a damage deposit which will <br />be returned if repair or maintenance is not required. <br />
