2.a. How will the municipality assure materials are collected in 2007 from those households that will <br />not receive recycling_ collection services under a municipally arranged contract? (For example: <br />ordinance provisions, licensing requirements, etc.) <br />By City Ordinance, residential haulers are required to provide curbside recycling services to <br />single-family residential customers at no additional cost. <br />It should be noted that the City's Ordinance has been changed and requires recycling <br />services for multiple family residences units. <br />2.b. What materials are required to be collected? <br />Recyclable items that are required by ordinance to be collected include newspapers, glass, <br />plastic bottles, aluminum cans and tin cans. <br />2.c. What is the collection frequency? (If frequency is different based on type of housing, please . <br />describe the differences.) <br />Previously, the City ordinance required a weekly collection schedule for recyclable materials. . <br />At the September 26' 2006 Council meeting, the City Council approved a single -sort recycling pilot <br />program that sunsets on December 31, 2007. Collection will be bi-weekly for the duration of the pilot <br />program. <br />3. How will the municipality assure that all recyclables collected from residential properties are <br />recycled, whether collected by the municipality's contracted vendor or another service provider? <br />As a part of the licensing process, the residential haulers are required to state on the application <br />what facility(ies) they haul refuse and recyclable materials to. <br />4. What changes are planned or anticipated for 2007? <br />See #2.c., Single -sort recycling pilot program. Also, the city gained 100% compliance with the <br />County's multiple family recycling policies. The City also approved changes to the ordinance requiring <br />the recycling opportunities be provided to all multi -family complexes. <br />5. How are recycling services in 2007 to be paid for, beyond any use of SCORE funds? What long- <br />term funding source is in place for recycling services? <br />The City's General Fund. <br />6. What public education and promotion efforts is the municipality planning for 2207? List types of <br />printed materials, other media, or events; intended audiences; method and frequency of <br />distribution. <br />City newsletter, Village /Votes, published quarterly -- St. Anthony residents and businesses are the <br />intended audiences. <br />City Cable Channel 16 -- information related to recycling is posted on CTV Channel 16 on the <br />Community's Bulletin Board. St. Anthony residents are the intended audience. <br />City's electronic marquis sign-- Upcoming information on recycling events is posted on the City's <br />sign. The intended audience is the residents, but others using Silver Lake Road will also benefit from <br />the information. <br />20 <br />
