City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />October 24, 2006 <br />Page 10 <br />1 VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. <br />2 City Manager Mornson reported the displays cases located in and outside the council chambers <br />3 were put together by the Public Works Department and Barb Suciu, City Clerk. He stated the <br />4 display inside chambers is the Salo Finland display and the outside is the St.. Anthony <br />5 information. <br />6 <br />7 City Manager Mornson reported on the ongoing training through League of Minnesota Cities. <br />8 He stated some staff would attend Avoiding Land Use Mines put on by the League of Minnesota <br />9 Cities Insurance Trust Fund. He stated all employees are required to attend workplace diversity <br />10 training every three years and are currently attending training sponsored by League of Minnesota <br />11 Cities Human Resource staff and Attorneys. He mentioned the cost for the training is only $225 <br />12 for three sessions. <br />13 <br />14 City Manager Mornson mentioned he and Public Works Director Jay Hartman met with the <br />15 Middle Mississippi Management Water Organization staff about funding for possible education <br />16 and equipment in the future. He stated he is unsure of where this would go, but as Mayor Faust <br />17 is the Vice Chair, and would help with funding in future. <br />18 <br />19 City Manager. Mornson mentioned the quarterly meeting with the school district would be held <br />20 on October 30, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the school media center. <br />21 <br />22 City Manager Mornson reported the next City Council Meetings are November 14 and <br />23 November 28, 2006.. He pointed out the December meetings would be on Monday, December 4 <br />24 and Monday, December 11, 2006 because the City gets the last date for the Truth in Taxation <br />25 hearing dates. He stated Council would need to decide whether to meet on December 26 also. <br />26 <br />27 City Manager Mornson reported November 8, 2006 is the open house for the Comprehensive <br />28 Plan. <br />29 <br />30 City Manager Mornson reported the League of Minnesota Cities AMM Legislative preview <br />31 meeting would be held on November 16, 2006. City Manager Mornson mentioned Mayor Faust, <br />32 Councilmember Gray, and he would be attending and if the others would like to join them to <br />33 contact him. <br />34 <br />35 City Manager Mornson mentioned November 17, 2006 is the deadline for Park and Planning <br />36 Commission applications. He stated there are three vacancies on the Planning Commission and <br />37 two on the Park Commission. <br />38 <br />39 City Manager Mornson stated on November 14, 2006, Jan Parker, Ramsey County <br />40 Commissioner would attend the Council meeting. He mentioned Staff is attempting to complete <br />41 the composting contract extension so Jan Parker could discuss this also. <br />42 <br />43 City Manager Mornson stated on November 29, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the City of <br />44 Minneapolis would hosting a Get Together With .Your Neighborhood for the 15 first ring suburbs <br />45 of Minneapolis to include all the Mayors, City Managers and Council members of the 15 <br />46 suburbs. He asked the Councilmembers to let him know if they would be attending. <br />10 <br />
