MEMO <br />DATE: November 20, 2006 <br />TO: Brian Heck, City Administrator <br />FROM: John Ohl, Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: MEMO OF UNDERSTANDING - 24 Hour Police Coverage <br />Effective 1/01/2007, The City of Lauderdale has indicated its desire to increase police coverage <br />to 24 hour service. To accomplish 24 hour coverage, St. Anthony will advertise for, test, select, <br />equip, and train 2 additional full-time police officers. <br />Since this process can effectively take up to 6 months, the following considerations are <br />necessary for St. Anthony to provide 24 hour service to the City of Lauderdale: <br />• For the first six months of 2007, the St. Anthony Police Department will phase in 24 <br />hour services. <br />• Through the use of overtime, St. Anthony will provide at least 20 hours of police <br />presence per day, for the months of January through June. <br />• Starting 07-01-07 or earlier if the hiring and training process proceeds faster than <br />anticipated, St. Anthony will provide 24 hour police presence. <br />• The 2007 contract would include all overtime costs for the first six months, start up costs <br />and the hiring costs of the two additional police officers with no additional charges <br />billed to Lauderdale. <br />• The January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2009 contract will be amended by both City <br />Councils to include the attached Addendum changing the hours of coverage and cost of <br />the three year agreement. <br />Lauderdale's annual costs for 24 hour coverage will be as follows. : <br />• 2007 = $519,500 <br />• 2008 = $548,100 <br />• 2009 = $578,250 <br />43 <br />
