CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION 07-062 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STAFF TO ENTER INTO NEGOTIATIONS <br />WITH SENSUS METERING SYSTEMS, INC., TO LEASE ANTENNA SPACE ON CITY <br />FACILITIES FOR THE PLACEMENT OF A RECEIVER ANTENNA TO READ <br />AUTOMATIC WATER METERS. <br />WHEREAS, the City of St. Anthony contracted with Sensus Metering Systems, Inc. for <br />the installation of automatic water meters and the related technology to <br />provide wireless water meter reads; and <br />WHEREAS, the initial plan for the project sited the receiving antenna in downtown <br />Minneapolis on the Pillsbury Tower; and <br />WHEREAS, this antenna on the Pillsbury Tower downtown proved to be insufficient <br />in providing adequate coverage and signal strength required to send <br />wireless information from the automatic water meters; and <br />WHEREAS, the resultant situation requires an additional receiving antenna to be <br />installed on City facilities in order to receive water meter data; and <br />WHEREAS, since the purpose of the new antenna is to receive solely the water meters <br />located within the corporate boundaries of the City of St. Anthony; and <br />WHEREAS, the negotiated lease agreement would require Sensus Metering Systems, <br />Inc. to compensate the City of St. Anthony if this antenna system is used <br />for commercial purposes receiving reads from outside the corporate <br />limits of St. Anthony for which they are collecting fees and profits; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of St. Anthony authorizes <br />Staff to enter into negotiations with Sensus Metering Systems, Inc,. to <br />lease antenna space on City facilities for the placement of a receiver <br />antenna to read automatic water meters. <br />Adopted this 14th day of August, 2007. <br />ATTEST: <br />City Clerk <br />Reviewed for administration: <br />Mayor <br />City Manager <br />36 <br />
