He commented <br />Minneapolis received grant money for the project and came back to the table to negotiate the <br />project. He commented this connection would be a benefit to the community. <br />Mayor Faust commented the City of St. Anthony was part of the connection when he first heard <br />about it in May 2007; however, through negotiations, this has become a win-win for the City and <br />the residents. <br />Motion by Councilmember Thuesen, seconded by Gray, to approve Resolution 07-056, a <br />Resolution Approving Funding of $35,000 for Established Connection from Overpass on St. <br />Anthony Boulevard and Francis Gross Golf Course to the Northeast Diagonal Trail and Grand <br />Round. <br />Councilmember Thuesen commented this is an important connection to the trail because without <br />it a barrier would exist. <br />Councilmember Stille commented that if the City did not do this, it would be difficult to raise the <br />money without the grant. He agreed that access to this trail would not be available without this <br />connection. <br />Mayor Faust stated this world give the City an opportunity to connect with Three Rivers Park <br />and the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board. He believes better communication would <br />result from this action. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. <br />City Manager Morrison reported the City would receive new aerial and zoning maps because of <br />the Comp Plan update. <br />City Manager Morrison reported Council was praised for being the first to submit their comp <br />plan. <br />City Manager Morrison reported he is on the Metro Cities Policy Committee and met on July 16, <br />2007. He stated three additional meetings would be held. <br />City Manager Morrison reported the Financial Management Plan would be presented at the <br />August 14, 2007 Council meeting. <br />City Manager Morrison reported the Silver Lake Road Update would be presented at the August <br />14, 2007 Council meeting. He stated a letter was sent to property owners where tree removal <br />would take place and another letter would follow outlining schedules. IIe reported the tree <br />removal contract would be on the August 14, 2007 Council agenda and a bid for residential <br />electrical reconnection would be on the August 28, 2007 Council agenda.
