SECTION V <br />STRATEGY: REGULATION <br />No. <br />Policy <br />Tar et Audience <br />3 <br />Provide assistance to State or other governmental agencies in <br />City, Review <br />resolving groundwater quality problems. <br />Agencies <br />4 <br />The city will encourage preservation of wetlands, ponds and parks <br />City <br />to encourage infiltration of precipitation in areas where land use is <br />not anticipated to adversely affect surface water runoff. <br />5 <br />The City of St. Anthony will cooperate with Hennepin and Ramsey <br />City <br />Counties' Environmental Health Department to insure that all <br />unsealed or improperly abandoned wells within the watershed are <br />properly sealed. Technical requirements for the abandonment of <br />these wells will be in conformance with the Minnesota Department <br />of Health Water Well Code. <br />6 <br />The City of St. Anthony will sweep the streets at least five times <br />City <br />annually. Furthermore, future purchases of street sweeping units <br />will give consideration to street sweepers which have the greatest <br />ability to remove nutrients from the streets within the community. <br />7 <br />The City of St. Anthony has developed a wellhead protection plan in <br />City <br />accordance with State requirements. <br />8 <br />The City of St. Anthony will cooperate with both Hennepin and <br />City, Review <br />Ramsey Counties to implement appropriate actions of the Counties <br />Agencies <br />groundwater quality protection plans. <br />9 <br />Groundwater appropriation users shall demonstrate that surface <br />City <br />water discharges do not create drainage problems. <br />Recreation, Fish and Wildlife <br />1 <br />The City of St. Anthony will work with and support to the maximum <br />City, Review <br />extent practical the efforts of Minnesota Department of Natural <br />Agencies <br />Resources, the Corps of Engineers, the Unit States Environmental <br />Protection Agency, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Rice Creek <br />Watershed District, MWMO, and other appropriate agencies in <br />promoting public enjoyment and protecting fish, wildlife, and <br />recreational resource values in the watershed. <br />2 <br />Preserve wetlands that provide habitat for wildlife and spawning of <br />City, Review <br />fish. <br />Agencies <br />3 <br />The City will encourage land owners to maintain wetlands and open <br />City Developers <br />space areas for the benefit of wildlife. <br />City of St. Anthony Section V — Page 8 <br />WSB Project No. 1626-25 <br />August 2007 <br />MR <br />
