City Council Regular Meeting Minutes October 9, 2007 Page 5 Motion by Councilmember Horst, seconded by Councilmember Gray, to approve Ordinance 07- 005, an Ordinance approving Chapter 555 of the City Ordinance, Single Sort Recycling, First Reading. Councilmembcr Horst recommended waiving a second and third reading. Mayor Faust replied it is better to hold all three readings in case additional information comes forward. 10 Councilmember Gray agreed with Mayor Faust. He questioned whether there was any negative 11 response for the single -sort recycling. 12 13 Assistant City Manager Moore -Sykes replied one resident did not like single -sort because of the 14 color of the bins. 15 16 Councilmember Horst requested the haulers be available to answer questions at the second and 17 third readings. 18 19 Motion carried. 20 21 VII. REPORTS FROM CYTY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. 22 23 Assistant City Manager Moore -Sykes reported the St. Anthony Police Department will be 24 offering two safety seminars. She stated the first seminar will be held on October 24, 2007 from 25 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. regarding computer and internet safety and the second seminar on 26 November 7, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. would cover sexual assault and personal safety. 27 She stated she would make sure these were advertised on CTV and the website. 28 29 Assistant City Manager Moore -Sykes reported a new Historical Society Brochure is available. 30 She stated she finds out new information almost daily about St. Anthony and it is important to 31 retain the history of the City. She stated the Historical Society meets the third Wednesday of 32 every month from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. She stated it is interesting to see the scrapbooks and 33 information brought forward by residents. 34 35 Assistant City Manager Moore -Sykes invited the Council to attend the League of Minnesota 36 Cities Regional Meetings. The Metro meeting will be held on November 29, 2007 in 37 I3loomington. She commented anyone that wanted to attend and should let her know and she 38 will complete the registration. 39 40 Councilmember Horst reported attending the St. Anthony Community Services Advisory 41 Council meeting on October 4, 2007. Ile noted that childcare enrollments are somewhat down 42 and stated a needs assessment discussion on what services should be operating out of the City 43 would occur at the next several meetings. He asked residents to contact the St. Anthony School 44 District or Community Services for more information. 45 5
