City Engineer's Update
November 7, 2007
Page 2
3. Silver Lake Road Reconstruction
Comcast, Centerpoint Energy, and Xcel Energy are moving rapidly in relocating their utilities
underground along the west side of Silver Lake Road. We anticipate this work will continue for the
next several months and will include installation of the service lines from Silver Lake Road to the
individual residents. We have been working closely with residents along Silver Lake Road to
complete the necessary modifications at the homes to accept underground electrical services.
In the last week, you will have noticed Xcel Energy has installed new transmission line crossings at
33`d Avenue and Silver Lake Road, which required some traffic modifications to complete this work.
We are also working closely with the Rice Creek Watershed District and the Hennepin County
Highway Department in securing the necessary permits for the reconstruction of the project in 2008.
We also anticipate that Hennepin County will be present in the near future, date to be determined, to
discuss the 2008 schedule and cooperative agreement for the reconstruction of Silver Lake Road.
4. Storrmvater Runoff and Filter Backwash Water Reuse Facility
As part of the coordination between the MWMO and the City of St. Anthony Village, we have been
working closely with the Rice Creek Watershed District, and other entities in regard to locating
financing for the construction of this project to coincide with the 2008 Silver Lake Road
improvements. We are currently working closely with the Rice Creek Watershed District to accept
the water reuse project as the permit requirements for the reconstruction of Silver Lake Road and
coordinating the cost participation between the MWMO, Hennepin County, Rice Creek Watershed
District, and possibly Met Council for the installation of this facility.
As your may recall, this facility recycles stormwater and backwash water from the City's water
treatment plant to irrigate Central Park. This allows the City to recycle water which is currently
being sent to Mirror Lake and the Mississippi River, and reduce the City's dependency on treated
potable water for the irrigation of Central Park. This project is anticipated to have a positive impact
on water quality and reduce the City's demand on groundwater resources.
If you have any questions in regard to the above -referenced projects or any other activities within the City of
St. Anthony Village, please feel free to call me at 763-287-7182. I will also be present at your November 13,
2007, City Council meeting to discuss these projects with you.
Sincerely,
WSR & Associates, Inc.
/a ,W141 --
Todd E.
