City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />January 8, 2008 <br />Page 4 <br />VI. GENERAL POLICY BUSINESS OF THE COUNCIL <br />None <br />VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />City Manager Mornson reported that in December 2007, several police officers participated in <br />Wal -Mart's Shop with a Cop program for underprivileged kids ages 10 to 12 in St. Anthony. <br />10 City Manager Mornson reported that in December 2007, Jay Hartman, Barb Suciu, and Kim <br />11 Moore -Sykes participated in the bell ringing in front of the Cub Foods. <br />12 <br />13 City Manager Mornson reported that the Fire Department also participated in bell ringing and the <br />14 Toys for Tots drive in December 2007. He reported they collected over 2000 toys. <br />15 <br />16 City Manager Mornson reported the second annual Kids vs. Cops Annual Basketball game <br />17 would be held on January 17, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Center. <br />18 <br />19 City Manager Mornson reported the Police Chief and Fire Chief reported their activities to the <br />20 Vital Aging Council in December 2007. <br />21 <br />22 City Manager Mornson reported the Liquor Store would celebrate 60 years as a municipal liquor <br />23 store on February 10, 2008. He stated that each month staff would attempt different themes to <br />24 coincide with 60 years of being in business. <br />25 <br />26 City Manager Mornson reported the third annual Citizen's Academy would be held March 26 — <br />27 May 14, 2008. He reported a Lauderdale resident donated $300 towards the academy to express <br />28 their support of the program. He stated that anyone interested could sign up with the Police <br />29 Department. <br />30 <br />31 City Manager Mornson reported the agenda for the January 22, 2008 Council meeting would <br />32 include reports from City Engineer Todd Hubmer, a Public Hearing on Applebee's change of <br />33 ownership for the liquor license, and the Silverwood Park staff would be in attendance. <br />34 <br />35 City Manager Mornson reported the following 2007 goals would be carried over to 2008: Silver <br />36 Lake Road project, re -codification of the City Ordinances, environmental goal, and the payment <br />37 of two bonds. <br />38 <br />39 Mayor Faust clarified the liquor license is a transfer of ownership and requires Council review <br />40 and a Public Hearing. IIe explained it remains an Applebee's restaurant. <br />41 <br />42 Councilmember Stille presented a letter from a resident of Falcon Heights commending the St. <br />43 Anthony Police Department. <br />44 <br />45 Councilmember Gray thanked citizens for placing their faith and trust in him for another four <br />46 years. He stated it is an honor to serve the community. <br />
