City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />June 24, 2008 <br />Page 7 <br />1 n Re -codification is still moving along and will likely come back to the Council in August <br />2 or September. <br />3 ° Staff was informed by the Metropolitan Council that the Comprehensive Plan Update is <br />4 technically approved, but the City will not receive a letter until a Water Conservation <br />5 Plan is completed. WSB is currently working on the Water Conservation Plan. <br />6 ° Staff ruct with residents of the Arbors Development regarding the private unimproved <br />7 alley by Croft Drive. There have been some water main breaks and issues and it has been <br />8 requested that the City take the alley back. This has been done in different cases, but the <br />9 alley had been required to be upgraded to City standards before taking it back. A petition <br />10 could come forward as soon as August. <br />I l e The Liquor Store will be holding a cook out on July 2"" and July 3`1 as part of the <br />12 Customer Appreciation and 60°i Anniversary. <br />13 <br />14 Mayor Faust encouraged council members to become involved in committee,,,, through the <br />15 League of Minnesota Cities and the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities. He commented <br />16 on how membership on these committees allows them to get many things accomplished through <br />17 the legislature. <br />18 <br />19 Mayor Faust requested input from the Council on whether to cancel the July 8, 2008 City <br />20 Council meeting. <br />21. <br />22 Consensus of the City Council was to direct staff to cancel the July 8, 2008 City Council <br />23 erecting. <br />24 <br />25 Councilmember Thuesen reported on attending a Vital Aging Meeting. One of the items <br />26 discussed was people who come door to door, and the permit process. He asked whether there is <br />27 a maximum amount of time that can be requested on the permit application, and whether 9 a.m. <br />28 to 9 p.m. is the maximum time period the individuals can go door to door. <br />29 <br />30 City Manager Morrison indicated he will review the ordinance and provide the requested <br />31 information. Ile noted a solicitor's permit is required to go door to door. <br />32 <br />33 Councilmember Thuesen stated anyone with doubts on a solicitor should call 911.. Examples of <br />34 permits are available at City Hall for review. <br />35 <br />36 Mayor Faust suggested a member of staff be present at the next Vital Aging Meeting to answer <br />37 questions. He noted that information on this topic is available on the City website, in the City <br />38 newsletter, and by contacting City Hall at 612-782-3301. <br />39 <br />40 Councilmember Gray provided an overview of the Village Fest scheduled events. He reported on <br />41 attending the following events: <br />42 • June 11°i — 13°' League of Minnesota Cities Amoral Conference <br />43 • June 19'" North Suburban Communications Commission Meeting. $40,000 in <br />44 scholarships were provided by the Commission and Comcast to college students in the <br />45 north suburban area. <br />46 <br />
