After the open house was held, the City had a public hearing as a formal review of the draft 20
update by the public, the Planning Commission and the City Council in preparation of
submitting it to the surrounding cities, the school district, the watershed organizations and
counties as required by law for review and comment. These agencies had six months for this
review and that review period was expired as of July 2, 2007.
The City, as required, submitted the draft land use update to the Metropolitan Council for that
agency's 120 -day review period. The Council as a result of their review requested that the City
also submit its water plan summary, which was not due to the Dept. of Natural Resources until
October 2008. Once the water plan summary was completed, it was sent to the DNR and they
have since passed it on to the Met Council with their approval. The Met Council recently
notified the City that the water plan summary had been received and reviewed by the Council
and advised the City that the 2008 Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update is now complete.
Recommended Action: Approve and submit the City's 2008 Comprehensive Land Use Plan
Update.
Attachments:
• Resolution Approving 2008 Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update to the Metropolitan
Council.
11252008 Council Staff Report 2008 Comp Plan.doc
